Shell – Saturn Power Generation

Gas Liquids Engineering Ltd. (GLE) provided engineering, procurement and construction support (EPCM) for the 198 MMSCF/d Shell Saturn 1 sweet gas processing facility in Northeast British Columbia (also designed by GLE. See Feature Project). Included was the design of 26 MW of gas-turbine power generation for the facility. Design features included:

  • The installation consisted of two 13 MW, Solar Titan 130 gas-turbine generators.
  • The power generation station feeds the plant with 20 kV power, stepped up from a generating voltage of 13.8 kV . The project design included: electrical, piping, structural and civil design; design and procurement of the generator building and associated HVAC systems; design of the generator cooling systems; and specification and procurement of the generators and auxiliary equipment.
  • The design is integrated with the plant control system, including plant DCS, unit control systems and ESD system with operation of the units remotely from the plant control room.
