Murphy Oil – Tupper West Pipeline

Gas Liquids Engineering Ltd. (GLE) completed detailed design and provided construction support for a 18” NPS 23.9 km sales gas pipeline. The sales gas pipeline was designed to flow 180 MMSCF/d of sweet sales gas from the Tupper West Gas Plant to TransCanada Pipelines receipt point. An extensive analysis to procure the line pipe resulted in substantial cost savings for the project. The pipeline was put into operation in 2011 and available for the start-up of the Tupper West Gas Plant. Design features of the pipeline were:

  • 457 mm (18” NPS) outside diameter 23.9 km (14.9 mile) pipeline
  • Maximum Operating Pressure (MOP) of 11,800 kPag (1711 psig)
  • ESDV integration into the Tupper West Gas Plant shut down system
  • Major river bore of 538 m using horizontal directional drilling across the Kiskatinaw River
