Husky Energy – Stolberg WHRU

Gas Liquids Engineering Ltd. (GLE) provided EPCM services for Husky Energy to install a Waste Heat Recovery Unit (WHRU) on a Solar Centaur 40-4700 gas turbine engine at the Stolberg Gas Plant.

The WHRU is capable of heating 7 MMSCF/d of generation gas from 95°F to 560°F with the heat available from the Solar Centaur 40-4700 gas turbine exhaust gas, which eliminates the need for salt bath heaters to run at 100% and reduces the overall plant CO2 emissions.

The turbine exhaust gas is directed into a duct that contains a diverter tee, damper and bypass stack which will bypass excess turbine exhaust from the WHRU. The diverter tee and damper are designed to modulate and control the amount of turbine exhaust gas directed to the regeneration coil based on a generation gas outlet temperature control signal to the damper positioned.
