One of the first projects undertaken by Gas Liquids Engineering Ltd. (GLE) in 1987 was replacement of the debutanizer in the Pembina Resources Diamond Valley Plant fractionation train. This pre-existing liquids extraction facility which included a turbo-expander, de-ethanizer, depropanizer and debutanizer, as well as MDEA sweetening and Sulphur plant. Work on modification to this plant prior to incorporation actually resulted in the company being named “Gas Liquids Engineering”. Work on Diamond Valley included the rectification of other problems within the distillation columns and brazed aluminum exchangers in the plant. This was followed in 1989 by the design of the Northridge Resources Ltd. Knopcik Frac Train in its entirety. Since then GLE has designed over 20 fractionation facilities, usually as part of an overall gas processing facility. GLE has also designed and installed a number of LPG truck and train loading terminals.
