Gas Liquids Engineering Ltd. (GLE) provided Denbury Resources with a solution for the Riley Ridge Gas Processing Facility to dissolve built up elemental sulphur. The facility contains three wells that extracts CO2 y H2S from the process feed stream via refrigeration / fractionation and methanol absorption, as well as rejects Nitrogen and recovers Helium. Methane and Helium are the sales products, and the CO2 y H2S is injected for sequestration. When the wells were brought online solid sulphur would slowly deposit in the well bore creating a pressure drop orifice and ultimately plugging the well. The solution involved downhole continuous injection of a physical solvent (SulphaMax) at each individual well to dissolve built up elemental sulphur.
