SENIOR MANAGEMENT
Doug MacKenzie, P.Eng, B.Sc. M.E., is the Founder and a Principal Partner of Gas Liquids Engineering Ltd. As President and General Manager since GLE's inception, Doug has guided GLE's growth from a group of 2 engineers to a staff of over 100 today. With over 25 years' experience in process design, equipment sizing and selection, project engineering, and gas processing facility and refrigeration system start-up, Doug has the expertise to carry your facility from concept to completion.
A recognized expert in his field and guest speaker on a variety of petroleum engineering topics, Doug has given presentations on MDEA and sweetening plant design and mixed refrigerant systems at AlChE (New Orleans), GPA (Denver) and CGPA (Calgary). Doug is familiar with all process and mechanical design options for oil and natural gas production and processing equipment.
Jim Maddocks, P.Eng., is a Principal of Gas Liquids Engineering Ltd, specializing in process and petroleum engineering. From initial process design, purchasing, fabrication and construction management to start up and trouble shooting, Jim can work with you to manage your entire production system and equipment installation process.
Jim has successfully completed the process engineering and project management on over 200 projects for GLE clients, and served as a process consultant on over 700 others in North America, Cuba and Poland. He is proficient in the use of PROMAX, HYSYS and other process simulation software.
Peter Griffin, Ph.D., P.Eng., has over 20 years of energy industry and research experience - specializing in strategic evaluations and planning, project management, technology development and contract negotiations. Working on projects of all sizes and complexities, Peter has consistently improved the operating and financial performance of his clients' facilities and equipment.
Peter has multi-disciplinary experience in engineering, financial analysis, business development planning and management, plus operations experience in reservoir, production and project engineering. He has extensive project management and consulting experience in Canada, South America, Europe and the Middle East.
Arnie Toews has over 30 years experience in process design, project management, purchasing, construction and troubleshooting for oil and gas production facilities. He has additional expertise in pipeline design and installation. Arnie manages a number of client projects at any given time, while sponsoring projects led by other GLE project managers.
As of July 2006, Arnie had successfully completed the engineering and construction of more than 3,000 km of pipelines and gathering systems.
Bruce Parsons is an expert in the fields of mechanical and structural drafting. Bruce guided GLE's drafting department from its infancy into one of the most advanced teams in Alberta. He built the department's capabilities by recruiting especially skilled and talented draftspeople and supplementing their backgrounds with on-going AutoCAD and design training.
GLE's drafting team is recognized as a leading provider of high-quality, cost-effective drafting services. Bruce developed an extensive software library, which is routinely updated and customized by GLE's in-house programming team. In addition to his managerial duties, Bruce is responsible for the drafting department's quality control.
SENIOR STAFF
Mr. Carroll, Ph.D., P. Eng., has more than twenty years of directly applicable experience in the areas of thermodynamics, phase equilibria, physical property calculations and is acutely familiar with acid gas systems and natural gas hydrates. He has authored or co-authored 50 papers in technical journals and has contributed to 40 conference presentations. John has designed and implemented a large-scale physical properties calculation program for inclusion in commercial process simulators. He has taught courses at the University level and to practicing engineers in Canada and throughout the world.
His first book "Natural Gas Hydrates: A Guide for Engineers" was published in December 2002. He is a member of the Advisory Board for the Journal of Chemical & Engineering Data.
He is the author of the renowned software AQUAlibrium that is widely accepted in industry as the best available for equilibria in acid gas water systems.

Mike Richardson, P.Eng., has over 25 years of experience in all facets of the oil and gas industry, including 15 years devoted to compressor design, manufacturing, sales, installation and operation. Clients benefit from his experience on a range of projects requiring his talents in project management, detailed engineering, construction, field supervision and maintenance.
From costing, through to construction and start-up, Mike has an exceptional track record in turnkey project execution, facilities optimization and upgrading, and removing production bottlenecks. Although he specializes in compressor design, Mike has experience in many different types of projects.
Mr. Williams has over 37 years of experience on projects requiring the application of skills in project management, front-end design and detailed engineering. Dick has experience on a wide variety of oil and gas related projects, which include the following types of facilities:
- Wellheads
- Gathering and transmission pipelines
- Sweet and sour natural gas processing plants
- Thermal oil recovery plants (SAGD)
- Oil treating batteries
- CO2 Recovery, liquefaction and storage
- Liquid sulphur degassing, handling and storage systems
- Enhanced oil recovery systems
- Utility systems for process plants
- Computer simulation of process schemes
- 2-Phase flow simulations
He has proven his competence in project management, facilities design, optimization, debottlenecking and upgrading.
Mr. Braun has over 35 years of diversified experience in numerous industries including the oil and gas industry with over 20 significant facilities and pipeline projects.
His broad background includes pioneer projects :
- Synthesizing diamond dust from methane gas
- Manufacture of special super absorbent fibres
- Facilities to handle MTBE, an oxygenated gasoline additive
- Zero process emissions oil battery / gas gathering facility
Harold has strong rotating equipment specialist skills and fabrication shop experience in building modules and other equipment. He has experience with building and moving large API tanks complete with fire suppression systems. In addition, he reaches into the manufacturing sectors with pipe mills, newspaper mills, and compressor packaging.
If breakthrough thinking is required on a project, Harold has a broad field of experience and imagination to draw from – offering solutions pragmatically, offsetting risk with analysis and experience. He has proven himself in the area of project management, which includes tough projects characterized by fast-tracking and hot work.
Harold is a Professional Engineer registered in Alberta, British Columbia, and the state of Montana.
