SENIOR MANAGEMENT

Doug MacKenzie
President & General Manager

Doug MacKenzie, P.Eng, B.Sc. M.E., is the Founder and a Principal Partner of Gas Liquids Engineering Ltd. As President and General Manager since GLE's inception, Doug has guided GLE's growth from a group of 2 engineers to a staff of over 300 today. With over 25 years' experience in process design, equipment sizing and selection, project engineering, and gas processing facility and refrigeration system
start-up, Doug has the expertise to carry your facility from concept to completion.

A recognized expert in his field and guest speaker on a variety of petroleum engineering topics, Doug has given presentations on MDEA and sweetening plant design and mixed refrigerant systems at AlChE (New Orleans), GPA (Denver) and CGPA (Calgary). Doug is familiar with all process and mechanical design options for oil and natural gas production and processing equipment.

Jim Maddocks
Vice President, Engineering

Jim Maddocks, P.Eng., is a Principal of Gas Liquids Engineering Ltd, specializing in process and petroleum engineering. From initial process design, purchasing, fabrication and construction management to start up and trouble shooting, Jim can work with you to manage your entire production system and equipment installation process.

Jim has successfully completed the process engineering and project management on over 200 projects for GLE clients, and served as a process consultant on over 700 others in North America, Cuba and Poland. He is proficient in the use of PROMAX, HYSYS and other process simulation software.

Peter Griffin
Vice President, Operations

Peter Griffin, Ph.D., P.Eng., has over 20 years of energy industry and research experience - specializing in strategic evaluations and planning, project management, technology development and contract negotiations. Working on projects of all sizes and complexities, Peter has consistently improved the operating and financial performance of his clients' facilities and equipment.

Peter has multi-disciplinary experience in engineering, financial analysis, business development planning and management, plus operations experience in reservoir, production and project engineering. He has extensive project management and consulting experience in Canada, South America, Europe and the Middle East.

Arnie Toews
Vice President, Facilities

Arnie Toews has over 30 years experience in process design, project management, purchasing, construction and troubleshooting for oil and gas production facilities. He has additional expertise in pipeline design and installation. Arnie manages a number of client projects at any given time, while sponsoring projects led by other GLE project managers.

As of July 2006, Arnie had successfully completed the engineering and construction of more than 3,000 km of pipelines and gathering systems.

 

Bruce Parsons
Vice President, Drafting Services & Information Technology

Bruce Parsons is an expert in the fields of mechanical and structural drafting. Bruce guided GLE's drafting department from its infancy into one of the most advanced teams in Alberta. He built the department's capabilities by recruiting especially skilled and talented draftspeople and supplementing their backgrounds with on-going AutoCAD and design training.

GLE's drafting team is recognized as a leading provider of high-quality, cost-effective drafting services. Bruce developed an extensive software library, which is routinely updated and customized by GLE's in-house programming team. In addition to his managerial duties, Bruce is responsible for the drafting department's quality control.

Greg Bury
Director, Business Development

Greg Bury, B. Comm., began his oil & gas career at the age of 14 working as a pipeline laborer. Today he manages GLE's Business Development Department with the primary focus being on customer satisfaction. In this fast moving industry it is vitally important to understand the needs and schedules of our customers.
Greg believes in building and maintaining positive relationships with current and potential customers and helping them achieve their project goals.

Greg has years of experience in a number of senior management roles specializing in customer relations and project management. His drive and enthusiasm make him an important team member at GLE.

 

SENIOR STAFF

John Carroll
Director, Geostorage Process Engineering

Mr. Carroll, Ph.D., P. Eng., has more than twenty years of directly applicable experience in the areas of thermodynamics, phase equilibria, physical property calculations and is acutely familiar with acid gas systems and natural gas hydrates. He has authored or co-authored 50 papers in technical journals and has contributed to 40 conference presentations. John has designed and implemented a large-scale physical properties calculation program for inclusion in commercial process simulators. He has taught courses at the University level and to practicing engineers in Canada and throughout the world.

His first book "Natural Gas Hydrates: A Guide for Engineers" was published in December 2002. He is a member of the Advisory Board for the Journal of Chemical & Engineering Data.

He is the author of the renowned software AQUAlibrium that is widely accepted in industry as the best available for equilibria in acid gas water systems.

Ian McKay
Director, International Projects

Ian McKay, Ph.D. (Chem.), is a dynamic and results-oriented technology expert and technical leader with over 25 years' experience in the chemical and energy industry. Ian has broad experience in project management working with multi-disciplinary teams, including vendors, customers, and joint venture partners to deliver new products and facilities, improved operations, and positive business contributions.
Ian has strong demonstrated accomplishments in:

  • Project process design, project engineering, and technical consulting (oil, gas, and liquids processing, and chemical catalysts and processes) for clients in North America, Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Asia.
  • Research & technology development (34 CDN, U.S., and International Patents)
  • Piloting, production scale-up, and commercialization (catalysts and polyolefin production in current commercial use).

Jorge Moskovic
Senior Mechanical Engineer

Jorge R. Moskovic, P.Eng., has been working for GLE since 1996. Hundreds of Projects have been enriched with his expertise. From simple Well Tie-Ins to complex Sour Gas Plants, including Acid Gas Injection, Oil Batteries, Steam Distribution Systems, etc. His skills and expertise include Project Management and Mechanical Design of Piping and Pipeline Systems, Pressure Vessels, Storage Tanks, etc. Jorge has a deep knowledge of applicable Design Codes such as ASME B 31.3, ASME VIII and CSA Z 662.
Jorge has an outstanding record of Projects delivered on time and budget and he is presently the lead of GLE's Mechanical Department.
The group of Engineers under his supervision excels developing scope details and specifications for the procurement of process skids, equipment and materials in order to deliver these components when required, on budget and in accordance with specifications and Customer expectations.

Mike Richardson
Senior Mechanical Engineer

Mike Richardson, P.Eng., has over 25 years of experience in all facets of the oil and gas industry, including 15 years devoted to compressor design, manufacturing, sales, installation and operation. Clients benefit from his experience on a range of projects requiring his talents in project management, detailed engineering, construction, field supervision and maintenance.

From costing, through to construction and start-up, Mike has an exceptional track record in turnkey project execution, facilities optimization and upgrading, and removing production bottlenecks. Although he specializes in compressor design, Mike has experience in many different types of projects.

Ramon Salazar
Senior Civil Engineer

Ramon Salazar, P. Eng., has over 32 years of experience in civil and structural engineering. He has a long history of concrete structural design for residential and commercial projects and the last seven years designing steel structures for oil and gas industry. Ramon has sound background in multidisciplinary work environment and ability to work in fast paced and challenging projects.

Ramon has knowledge on preparation of project specifications, design criteria and scope of work for civil works, steel and reinforce concrete structures. His administrative skills include budgeting, scheduling and cost control. Ramon is presently the lead of the GLECivil/Structural Engineering Team.
